What you enter

What MapGap calculates

  1. Median competitor: the median review count of the competitors that have a count entered. With an even number of competitors it's the average of the middle two.
  2. Gap to median: the median minus your count, or 0 if you're already at or above it.
  3. Target per 30 days: the gap divided by 3, rounded up, so you'd close it in about 90 days at a steady pace.

The formula shown in the app is target_reviews_per_30_days = max(0, ceil((median_competitor_reviews − your_reviews) / 3)).

Example

You have 40 reviews. Three competitors have 52, 90 and 130. The median is 90, the gap is 50, and the 30-day target is 17 (50 ÷ 3 = 16.7, rounded up). If you also entered 6 reviews in the last 30 days, the app shows you're about 11 a month short of that pace.

How many Google reviews do I need to compete?
